Lott's debut album, Turn It Up, was released by Mercury Records in the United Kingdom in September 2009. The first single, "Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)", had previously reached number one on the UK Singles Chart in June 2009.[1] The single also had success outside the UK, reaching the top forty in a number of other countries, including top ten peaks in Denmark and France.[2][3] The album also included the singles; "Boys and Girls", another UK number one, "Cry Me Out", "Gravity" and "Turn It Up".[1] Turn It Up has peaked at number six on the UK Albums Chart and has been certified double platinum by the British Phonographic Industry.[1][4]

In September 2011, Lott released the track "All About Tonight" as the lead single from the upcoming second studio album, Young Foolish Happy. The single, which debuted at number-one in the UK, marks Lott's third number-one single. Second single, "What Do You Take Me For" was released in November and debuted at number ten; featuring American rapper Pusha T. The album was released the following week, debuting at number eighteen in the UK and number thirty-three in Ireland. A third single, "Kiss the Stars", is set for release on 29 January 2012.

Lott also recorded the song "I Got Soul" with a collection of other UK artists known the Young Soul Rebels to raise money for the charity War Child UK. Pixie has also co-written songs for Alexandra Burke, Girls Can't Catch and Lisa Hordijk, the Dutch X-Factor winner, along with many others.
